The part to read twice

Lose the phone,
lose the person.

If you lose this phone, or delete the app, that identity is gone. It cannot be recovered — not by us, not by anyone. You would start again as somebody new.

A room

Strangers get the screen tone. You don't.

A name is yours plus a number the server picks, so two people called alex are still two people.

Older messages are gone. A room keeps the recent stretch of what was said and nothing before it, so scrolling up ends rather than loading.

When it ships

One address. Nothing attached to it.

This is the only place we ask for an email, and it is worth being straight about the tension: a product that holds nothing about you is asking you for one thing.

So it is kept apart from everything else here. It is not an account and it never becomes one, it is not what identifies you in a room, and it is deleted the day it has been used.

One message, on the day there is something to install. No newsletter, no second email, and the list goes nowhere else.
